(2007) Fruit of vision
TIM Zirkler (right) had 5000 reasons to smile last Friday when he was awarded the BCU Bill Ussher Memorial Agricultural Scholarship at Pro-Ag.
The $5000 scholarship will help Tim improve his blueberry growing business as he plans to travel overseas and visit the best properties in the industry, and also complete courses in horticulture.
The scholarship is awarded to a member of the BCU (Bananacoast Credit Union) and Tim said that he has been a member for 25 years.
“My parents joined me up in 1982,” he said. The announcement of the scholarship on Friday was part of the big Pro-Ag weekend that saw 11,543 people go through the turnstiles at the Macksville Showground.
Farm machinery, livestock and all things agricultural were on display and for sale at the annual two-day event.
The Banana Coast Credit Union has been the major supporter of the event since it began and it joins forces with the Mid-Coast Observer to organise Pro-Ag every year.
More than 100 exhibitors demonstrated everything you can use on the farm, at home and in business.
