(2006) Show packs 'em in
RECORD crowds and good weather made the 2006 BCU Pro-Ag field day at Macksville Showground the best yet.
Mid-Coast Observer and Pro-Ag manager Matt Brennan was delighted with the response to the two-day event, which attracted more than 100 exhibitors demonstrating and showcasing everything you can use in business, on the farm and at home.
Tractor sales proved popular, with exhibitors reporting sales of new machinery far beyond expectations.
As well as farm implements, visitors could buy cars and lawn mowers, and gain advice on water, power and communications.
“Gate numbers were significantly up on last year and lived up to the show’s billing as the top agricultural field day on the Mid North Coast,” Matt said.
There were helicopter rides, with part of the proceeds being donated by Coastal Helicopter Services to the Nambucca Heads Cancer Support Group.
One of the features was the cooking shows performed by Happynings sales representative Brad Rieck at the Country Energy display.
Telstra made its debut at Pro-Ag for the first time, with Rick Fuller of Kempsey’s Leading Edge Telecoms confirming there was a lot of interest from visitors in the company’s products.
The Yamaha fishing show with its large aquarium stocked with many fish species was a highlight.
Sheep shearing demonstrations, beef and cattle competitions and a cattle sale by GJ Kennedy and Co also drew large crowds.
Displays of the latest motorbikes and cars, and old machinery from the Mid North Coast Machinery Restoration Club, were popular.
Pro-Ag 2006 was sponsored by the Banana Coast Credit Union and the Mid-Coast Observer newspaper.
